How to Win

Win real prizes by earning a top score by January 17, 2019 at 11:59 pm EST.

  • First place: 2 Transtec pens and $500!

To enter, tap the share button on the game over or pause screen and email a screenshot with your score to TheProVALGame@TheTranstecGroup.com.

Highest scores are always saved in the app, so users do not need to share every score earned and can submit the highest score at any point within the contest period.

Users can submit as many scores as they like but are only eligible to win one prize per household, regardless of how many top scores they have.

How to Play

Hold and drag to move the profiler van from side to side. Earn points by driving over high spots to grind them. The game ends if you crash into a cone, light pole, or barrier.

Terms and Conditions

  • From within The ProVAL Game app, you must email your score, including the screenshot, to TheProVALGame@TheTranstecGroup.com to be eligible to win.
  • Submitted scores are eligible to win prizes until 11:59 pm EST on January 17, 2019.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to win.
  • Employees and family members of The Transtec Group are not eligible to win.
  • No purchases are necessary.
  • Users can submit as many scores as they like but are only eligible to win one prize per household, regardless of how many top scores they have.
  • In the event of a score tie, the highest scores submitted will be randomly chosen to win each place. No prizes will be split and only three prizes will be given out regardless of the number of high scores.
    • Example 1: User 1 scores 500, users 2 scores 500, user 3 scores 500, and user 4 cores 450. Users 1, 2, and 3 will be randomly selected to win the first, second, and third place prizes.
    • Example 2: User 1 scores 520, user 2 scores 520, user 3 scores 430, and user 4 scores 400. Users 1 and 2 will be randomly chosen to win first and second place. User 3 will win third place.
  • Winners will be contacted by email to claim their prize. Winners have one week (7 days) from the date of first contact to claim their prize. If a winner does not claim their prize within one week, Transtec will give the prize to the next winner.

First Japanese RPUG – Abstracts due on Jan. 25, 2019

The first Japanese Road Profile Users Group (JRPUG) meeting will be held on April 19, 2019 in Sapporo, Japan. Dr. Robert O. Rasmussen of Transtec Group will deliver a keynote speech on “State-of-the-Art Pavement Surface Characteristic technologies”. Dr. George K. Chang of Transtec Group will present how RPUG promotes innovation promoted through the three decades of RPUG meetings. Dr. Chang will also teach a ProVAL workshop onsite. The due date for abstracts of presentation is on January 25, 2019. Check out the flyer for further details.

ProVAL 3.61.30 Released

This is an important fix to the HRI fixed-interval analysis for the Smoothness Assurance (SAM). Changes are listed in the Release Notes and also provided below.

  • Fix: The fixed-interval analysis for HRI was returning results for the MRI analysis.

ProVAL 3.61.29 Released

This addresses some issues when importing files. Changes are listed in the Release Notes and also provided below.

File Import

  • Fix: Changes in the previous version caused some files to not import incorrectly when using non-English-style Regional Settings.
  • Change: Improved event marker import for Dynatest.
  • Change: Verify that the sample interval in Dynatest files does not change direction. It should either be always positive or always negative. Files that do not meet this requirement will not be imported.

ProVAL 3.61.27 Released

ProVAL 3.61.27 includes numerous fixes. Changes are listed in the Release Notes and also provided below.

File Import

  • Fix: Files that started with a blank line could not be opened.
  • Fix: ProVAL 2.x projects could not be opened.

Editor

  • Fix: Applying the route for a file with a large number of events could take a long time.
  • Fix: Leaving the editor before applying a route finished would cause a crash.
  • Fix: Reversing did not work well when using mileposts.
  • Fix: Changing the direction when using mileposts did not immediately update charts.
  • Change: Distance offset is now allowed to range from -9,999,999 to 9,999,999 feet (or
    -3,048,000 to 3,048,000 meters). Please note there is a practical limit of 7 digits. Anything more will be lost.
  • New: Added ability to clear routes.

Analysis – Smoothness Assurance

  • Fix: A grinding location with no decimal places showed an error.
  • Fix: Grinding would fail if any locations had a start location after the stop location.
  • Fix: Changing the locations might not update the length.

Analysis – Optimal WIM Locator

  • Fix: A grinding location with no decimal places showed an error.
  • Fix: Grinding would fail if any locations had a start location after the stop location.
  • Fix: Changing the locations might not update the length.

Misc

  • Fix: Some Windows Regional Settings would cause a crash at startup.
  • Fix: The map legend font was sometimes blurry.
  • Fix: PPF files with invalid route information would cause a crash. That has been fixed and ProVAL will also attempt to create a valid route.
  • Fix: Possible fix for rare crash when changing options.

US DOT Smoothness Specification Database Updates
