The ASTM International standard for profile data specification, based on the ProVAL PPF spec 1.02, has been published in the ASTM annual book since 2008.

If you implement a program to generate PPF data files, you can use ProVAL to validate your implementation.

Dr. George K. Chang, one of the ProVAL developers and workshop instructors, won an honorary 2007 Kummer Lecture Award from ASTM International.

Established in 1968 by Committee E17 on Vehicle-Pavement Systems in honor of Hartwig W. Kummer, who contributed significantly to the advancement of vehicle-pavement systems through personal accomplishments and by stimulating research and encouraging the pursuit of knowledge.
