ProVAL 3.3 Released
We are pleased to announce the release of ProVAL 3.3!
We have made many major changes, all of which are included in the must-read Release Notes. Here is the ProVAL 3.3 introduction document. Now, let’s cover the highlights.
Exclusion of Leave-Outs
The ability to automatically exclude leave-outs from an analysis has been our most requested feature. This addition has been made to Ride Quality and Smoothness Assurance. You don’t need to take any additional actions. Any leave-outs marked in your selected analysis section will be excluded. This does have the side effect of limiting the Fixed-Interval Ride Quality analysis to only one file or profile at a time.
File Import Wizard
We are often asked if ProVAL can import text or CSV files. We can now affirm that this is possible. When adding an unknown file type, the Import Wizard will be shown. Simply input a few essential data, and you’ll be able to view and analyze your profiles. The wizard will also appear for some corrupted or invalid text-based files, such as ERD.
Profile Synchronization Analysis
Profile Synchronization has replaced Cross-Correlation. There are two key differences. First, you are no longer limited to comparing just two profiles. Second, after profiles have been synchronized, you can apply the offsets automatically with one click, rather than updating each profile by hand.
Optimal WIM Locator
While not a new feature, the OWL site thresholds are quite different now. You must rerun your analyses to see the new results. This change was also made to the most recent version of 3.2. See the release notes for details.
Sections
Sections are now featured much more prominently. The Sections screen in the Editor has been re-arranged and the ability to select a default Section has been added. When adding a selection in the Viewer or Analysis, this section will be used by default. In the Viewer you can also choose which section you want to view. We also added the ability to export a section.
Analysis Templates
While this is also not a new feature, it is very important to note that Analysis Templates from previous versions are no longer automatically imported. When ProVAL crashed on startup, the cause was almost always due to the templates. You can import templates manually in the Options.
