TRB 2012 - Workshop No. 115 (SMW12-007)
Sunday, January 22, 2012, 9:00am-12:00pm, Shoreham Hotel (Empire room)
Practical Smoothness Solutions with ProVAL
George K. Chang, Transtec Group, Inc., presiding
Sponsored by Committee on Surface Properties - Vehicle Interaction (AFD90); Committee on Characteristics of Asphalt-Aggregate Combinations to Meet Surface Requirements (AFK40); Committee on Weigh-in-Motion (ABJ35(2)); Committee on Highway Traffic Monitoring (ABJ35)
ProVAL is essential for project-level construction acceptance and network-level tests (e.g., the Highway Performance Management System). Featured in this hands-on workshop are practical solutions for automated smoothness analysis with exclusions, smoothness assurance module, and optimal weigh-in-motion site locator (OWL). OWL implements AASHTO Standard MP14-11 to qualify existing WIM sites and select new WIM sites; therefore, it is critical to ensuring quality traffic input to DARWIN-ME.
